Funeral Services
Roman Catholic funerals in Singapore are typically held over 3 or 5 days.
​
There are 3 parts to a Roman Catholic Funeral, the vigil, the funeral liturgy and the committal.
​
The first stage is The vigil which can be held at home, at a wake chapel or funeral parlour can last up to a maximum of 7 days. This is where family and friend gather to pay their last respects before the funeral.​
​
The casket is escorted from the location of the vigil on the funeral day for the funeral liturgy also know at the funeral mass which takes place at the parish of the deceased. The funeral mass is typically conducted by the deceased's priest. This is the second stage of the funeral.
​
The third and final stage, the committal, is conducted at the burial ground or crematorium. This is where family and friend offer their prayers to the deceased.
​
After cremation, the ashes are then interred into a columbarium.
